With the Xbox One X set to storm the world next month, Microsoft is gearing up their game library by releasing visual updates. Surprisingly, even some older Xbox 360 games available on the Xbox One X via backward compatibility are set to get the visual upgrade treatment.
According to Xbox, a number of Xbox 360 backward compatible games will be getting an upgrade to support a higher resolution, 9X the original pixel count, and expanded color details.
This upgrade allows to improve game visual quality without touching the game code in any way. It's called the Heutchy Method and "leverages the power of Xbox One X to let the Xbox 360 emulator present the very best version of the game possible with the existing assets--all without touching the game code."
The number of games to get upgraded visual support is quite limited so far. The Xbox 360 games available for an Xbox One X visual upgrade are Assassin's Creed, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Fallout 3, and Halo 3.

Gears of War 4 is set to receive a rather hefty patch that'll include a range of improvements aimed towards Xbox One X users. These improvements are all changes to the graphical appearance and overall frame performance of the game.
The update is completely free, but it won't offer any benefits for those not using the Xbox One X.
To begin with, the new Xbox One X improvements for Gears of War 4 will allow players to play the game in true 4K (3840 x 2160). Players will have the option to choose between different visual modes, but even 1080P is said to have a significant graphics boost.
There will also be two different rendering modes players can choose from. Players can either go into Performance mode or Visuals mode. On Performance mode, the game will be capped at 1080P resolution, but frame rate will be higher and will reach 60 frames per second.
With the Visuals mode, players can choose to use 4K resolution and 30FPS. These changes will only be apparent in Campaign

So far, we know that Star Wars Battlefront II is getting a single player campaign, but we know relatively little information about it.
This is quite surprising considering how close we are to the launch now. Thankfully, we have a few more snippets of information today that we can use to help slowly piece together the Star Wars Battlefront campaign story.
Battlefront II producer David Robillard has revealed the length of the Star Wars Battlefront campaign. According to Robillard, the playtime is roughly 5 to 8 hours, depending on how well you can play against the AI opponents.
Considering that this is usually the average length of a single player campaign for AAA first-person shooter games, I think we've got something special to look forward to. There are no details of any level of replayability for the single player campaign yet. These days, most campaigns seem to have very little replay value.
It'd be great to go back to the days of Halo 3 - during those times

A brand new game of the year edition for Hitman has been announced and it will make its way to Xbox One, PC, and PS4 later this year on November 7.
The new game of the year edition will include the base game, the content available through the Hitman season pass, and a brand new campaign called Patient Zero.
IO Interactive has provided a small snippet of information about the new campaign. We've provided the description below:
"After the routine elimination of a target, a contingency plan to unleash a global pandemic is triggered and Agent 47 must race against the clock to prevent a virus from spreading," reads the new campaign's description. "This four-mission campaign spans different locations in the game, each one re-worked from the original settings with new gameplay opportunities, disguises, characters, challenges, gameplay mechanics, AI behavior and HUD elements. Bangkok, Sapienza, Colorado and Hokkaido look and feel completely different with a new time of day

It's been a tradition for Bungie to launch a Halloween event each year ever since Destiny first graced our consoles, but this year will be different. There will be no Destiny 2 Halloween event and the reason for this isn't really that clear.
A Destiny fan asked David "Deej" Dague on Twitter whether there would be a Destiny 2 Halloween event and he simply responded with "No Sir." Later on, Deej expanded on his reply by saying, "We may see it again someday but Season 1 has been about launch and ritual activation. The first event for Destiny 2 is The Dawning."
In Destiny 1, Festival of the Lost was the name of the Halloween event that would appear each year. Even though Destiny 1 also launched in September, (back in 2014) Bungie still released a Festival of the Lost event on the first year.
It seems a shame that we won't be getting a Festival of the Lost Halloween event this year for Destiny 2, but hopefully, we will see it return next year.

If you're not sure if you'll be interested in the upcoming Gran Turismo Sport racing game for the PlayStation 4, you may want to give the free demo a try.
Sony has confirmed that PS4 owners will be able to give Gran Turismo Sport a test run for free from October 9 until October 12. This will essentially follow the same beta pre-release model many triple-A publishers have been following in recent years.
If you're a PS Plus member, you'll get more time than those without PS Plus. Firstly, PS Plus members will be given the option to preload the Gran Turismo Sport demo before its starting date on October 9. They'll also be able to get started on October 9 at 12 AM, while non-Plus members must wait until 6 PM.
The preload period for PS Plus members will start on October 7. Players who earn money or unlock cars in the Gran Turismo demo can also transfer their progress to the full release later in the month on October 17.
All car unlocks can be transferred to the full

A brand new Destiny 2 patch has hit both Xbox One and PS4. This patch brings a number of bug fixes, gameplay balancing changes, and also introduces a new legendary weapon via the recent factions feature.
Let's start with the juicy stuff first, shall we? Patch 1.0.3.1 introduces a brand new legendary weapon that is now available as a reward for those that took part in the faction gameplay last week.
The Faction Rallies event allowed players to join one of three factions to earn points for that faction and earn rewards. It was explained that the faction with the most points at the end of the week was to be given access to a legendary weapon related to that faction.
Now that the event is over, the winning faction, Dead Orbit, has their scout rifle available in-game. All players can purchase the scout rifle for 50,000 glimmers. However, those in the Dead Orbit faction will be able to pick it up for just 1,000.
The new Destiny 2 patch also brings a number of new bug

If you're hoping to play Playerunknown's Battlegrounds on your PS4, we have some good and bad news for you today.
First things first, it's been confirmed that Battlegrounds developer Bluehole has set up an exclusivity deal with Microsoft. Bluehole is also interested in bringing Battlegrounds to the PS4 after this exclusivity period runs out.
Bluehole is apparently in talks with Sony to make this happen. So far, this is the good news that has come out of a recent report that shares some insider details on the Xbox exclusivity deal.
The bad news is that Bluehole and Microsoft have been in further talks to essentially lengthen the exclusivity deal for PUBG. This would mean that Battlegrounds would stay exclusive to the Xbox One and the PC for longer than previously planned.
According to a report by Bloomberg, anonymous individuals, who have chosen to keep their identity private, were present during talks between Microsoft and Bluehole. There was a discussion in

A brand new system update for the PlayStation 4 has been released. PS4 owners can download and install the new 5.0 system update now.
While moving to 5.0 sounds like quite a big jump, there aren't any significant changes in this latest system update. Unlike previous big OS updates for the PS4, the 5.0 system update puts a focus on backend fixes.
The visual changes are very minor, but we'll discuss what has changed below.
The biggest feature of the PS4 5.0 system update is the support for Twitch streaming up to 1080p resolution for those with a PS4 Pro. If you own a PS4 Pro, you'll be able to stream your game directly to Twitch at 60 frames per second and in 1080p resolution. You are now able to follow users in PS4's What's New feed. Previously, it was only possible to follow verified users from this feed.
A couple of changes have also been made to the notifications system on the PS4 5.0 system update. Starting in 5.0, PS4 owners can now prevent notification pop-ups
