In the early days of 2022, Microsoft made waves by purchasing Activision Blizzard. The company is responsible for some of the biggest online franchises of all time (starcraft and overwatch), the biggest MMO ever (world of warcraft), and the highest-grossing annual series (call of duty), could possibly become an Xbox exclusive developer. And for a price tag of over $70 billion, it was the largest acquisition in gaming history.
With such a massive acquisition taking place, Sony was quick to respond with one of their own. Sony will be purchasing the original Halo developer for a relatively tame price tag of just $3.6 billion. It is one of three major consolidations to happen in the games industry in a single month.
According to the fine print, the original Halo development studio will become an independent subsidiary of Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE). The current management team at Bungie will be part of the board of directors, which will include the current CEO.

Blizzard’s hotly-anticipated Overwatch port to the Nintendo Switch is being launched with some serious issues, leaving players frustrated by the game’s performance.
The game seems to have a lot of issues that weren’t there for the PS4, Xbox One, or PC. These include character models that are nowhere to be found when the game boots. This leaves teammates unaware of their location as well as enemies, who’re showing up as balls of light within the game.
Lag also appears to be a major issue in the game, causing players to miss shots and end up dead before the can respond. This issue seems to be widespread across the platform as well, with multiple media outlets and players complaining about the issue.
It appears that the game is more or less broken right now, and Blizzard is going to have to do some serious work in the form of patching to get things up to snuff.
In other Blizzard news, it appears that Nintendo isn’t working much to promote Overwatch on their system

At a time where the Epic Game Store is getting tons of release exclusives, Bungie threw Valve a bone by announcing that it will be releasing Destiny 2 to Steam, rather than the Epic Game Store.

Overwatch creators Blizzard held an investor call recently where president J. Allen Brack stated that there would be more content coming to the hit shooter for the foreseeable future.
The call revealed that Overwatch support from Blizzard will continue through at least the 2020 fiscal year, and likely well beyond it. There were multiple hints from Brack that Blizzard sees the franchise as being able to sustain multiple projects, including different genres or media iterations.
In his call to investors, Brack stated: "Overwatch is a huge tentpole franchise for Blizzard and we’re continuing to dedicate the resources and the attention so that we can continue to grow the community and the franchise over time.”
Blizzard is certainly living up to their end of supporting Overwatch. The game is now three years old and the company is regularly adding new levels, characters, gameplay features and more.
Furthermore, they’ve also gone so far as to launch an eSports

Overwatch developers, Blizzard, are preparing for a much-needed rework for D.Va. The new update will change her ultimate ability and make a number of other changes to how she works in-game.
For a long time, players have complained about how overpowered D.Va was. As it is right now, D.Va starts the game as an off-tank, with lots of health points and a considerable amount of damage. On its own, the first form of D.Va can be dealt with without too much difficulty.
However, when D.VA loses her mech and hops on foot, her fast movement speed and her ridiculously small hitboxes make her a nightmare to deal with.
The biggest problem with D.Va, however, is without a doubt her Defense Matrix ability. With Defense Matrix, D.Va can protect herself and others from incoming damage. In the rework, Defense Matrix will get a nerf - it will last for half as long.
To balance out the nerf, D.Va will be given a new ability that will help her to play more aggressively.

A brand new Overwatch map has been announced. The new map is called Junkertown and it was first announced at Gamescom.
The new map will be an escort map and the environment has been created to represent Junkrat and Roadhog's home town.
In the lore, Junkertown is set in the heart of Australia. This was one of the countries to get impacted by the Omnic crisis the hardest, and as a result, the entire environment is falling to pieces. Buildings and shelters are put together with whatever scrap material can be found.
Those that live in Junkertown are known as Junkers. Originally, both Junkrat and Roadhog lived within Junkertown as Junkers, too. However, the duo was caught stealing from the queen of Junkertown. As punishment, both Junkrat and Roadhog were exiled from the city.
To go alongside the map announcement, Blizzard released a brand new video on their Youtube channel that showed Junkrat and Roadhog explaining the new Junkertown map.
The video is filled
