NFTs have very much taken the world by storm, with multiple people buying into the new digital trend. And while most NFTs have revolved around art, celebrities, and anime, Ubisoft made history as the first company to introduce NFTs to a AAA game. With their new service Quartz, players will buy playable NFTs, which they can even use in-game.
The main pitch for the service, released on December 9, 2021, is that players can buy Playable NFTs, which will bring a new experience to their existing lineup of games. These NFTs would essentially take on the form of customization items, which players could wear in-game with other players. And similar to all other types of tokens available in the market, each one will have a limited-time run. After a set date, the company will no longer produce those NFTs.
Furthermore, each of the tokens you buy will also come with a serial number unique to the player. Once players buy these tokens, they can permanently add them to their collection and

NFTs or no fungible tokens are digital items that are backed up by blockchain technology. An NFT uses blockchain-based authentication and verification to incorporate proof of ownership to the person that owns the NFT. There are different types of NFTs and examples can include gaming items, collectibles, digital art, ownership records, digital documents, and event tickets.
Ultimately, the concept of NFT pertains to the blockchain-enabled receipt that signifies value for a digital item. Currently, NFTs are easily bought, sold, and auctioned at different online marketplaces. The projected use-cases and applications for NFTs are vast, and yet to be proven. One of the most exciting and talked about use-case of NFTs has to do with the gaming industry.
Ubisoft’s NFT integration
On December 3rd, Ubisoft released a blog where they explained their blockchain-based vision for the coming year. The gaming company in this blog points out the unique attributes of blockchain-based

The new Rainbow Six Siege Operation Blood Orchid expansion is finally out for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
After a long wait, the latest expansion, which adds three new operators, a new map, and a large number of gameplay fixes and balancing changes, has gone live.
Ubisoft released a new trailer for the operation. During the trailer, the new map is showcased, alongside the three new operators.
As mentioned previously, the new map for Operation Blood Orchid is Theme Park. It's a spooky-themed nighttime map that's based on an abandoned theme park. The trailer also shows off Ying and Lesion, the two new operators from Hong Kong. The trailer ends by giving a sneak peek at the third operator, Ela.
Ela is a Polish operator that was originally planned for a now-axed Polish themed operation.
While the trailer does show the three new operators in action, it doesn't do much to showcase their new abilities. We've provided a quick overview of the new operators

Operation Health has finally ended and Siege players are now going to get access to new content and changes as part of the Blood Orchid 3.0 patch.
The entire expansion will be made available for free to all players - this means that everybody can play the new maps and new operators included in the operation. However, despite the content being released for free, those with the Year 2 season pass will get the operators for free, while all other players will need to spend renown on the operators to unlock them.
Alternatively, players can purchase new operators with real money via the Rainbow Six Credits system.
One of the biggest new additions to Rainbow Six Siege in the new Blood Orchid operation is the Theme Park map. This new map features a creepy environment based in an abandoned theme park.
This time around, we are also seeing three new operators being brought into Rainbow Six Siege. The first operator is Ying, a Chinese attacker that can fire a cluster of

In a sudden, never-before-seen move, Ubisoft has planned to remove a number of maps from the competitive map pool.
Once the maps are removed, they'll no longer appear in the ranked game mode. They will, however, remain in casual mode and terrorist hunt mode.
Going forward, only nine maps will remain in the ranked mode for Rainbow Six Siege. The nine remaining maps are Bank, Clubhouse, Oregon, Kafe, Consulate, Chalet, Border, Coastline, and Skyscraper. These are the same maps that will be used in competitive leagues.
"Moving forward, we will introduce the new Ranked and ESL Pro League playlists at the same time we perform the rank reset--and all of that will occur at the start of the new season," Ubisoft explained. "The Ranked playlist, much like the ESL playlist, will be rotated each Season, offering a different selection of available maps."
Interestingly, not all maps will remain in the game. Some maps will be removed from the game entirely to be reworked. Casual

In anticipation for Rainbow Six Blood Orchid, Ubisoft has gone and announced a brand new operator. The new operator is a part of the S.D.U unit and he will join the Chinese operator team on the defending side.
So far, Ubisoft has only teased us with a small clip of Lesion, so we know very little about Lesion's backstory or how he fits into the lore. We do, however, have some information on the weapons that Lesion can use, as well as the ability that Lesion is equipped with.
Lesion will have access to either the T-5 SMG or Six12 shotgun for a primary weapon. Lesion's secondary weapon is the Q-929, the same weapon available for the other Chinese operator, Ying.
Lesion's ability is expected to be similar to Echo's ability. Lesion can throw a device that can stick to surfaces. Once activated, Lesion's device will let out needles that will slow down nearby enemies and cause their vision to be blurred.
Lesion's device can also deal damage, but unlike Echo's device,

After a long season of not releasing any new content, Ubisoft is finally gearing up to release some new operators for Rainbow Six: Siege.
The first of the new operators have confirmed to be a Chinese operator named Ying. Ying is a female character that is a part of the new S.D.U (Special Defense Unit) operator faction.
In a blog post, information about Ying was shared.
"The S.D.U. is known for leading high-risk operations amidst Hong Kong's dense urban population. For this purpose, we opted for a character with an awareness of their surroundings and a concern for civilian lives. This is why we envisioned her as being heavily trained in close protection, which also influenced her playstyle."
Ying has a number of close-ranged weapons available to use. This includes the SIX12 and T-95 LSW for primary weapons, and the Q-929 for a secondary weapon.
Ying is an attack operator and her special ability is called 'Candela.' With this, Ying can roll a grenade into

A brand new update is coming to Rainbow Six Siege, and it will be adding loot boxes, among some other changes.
It seems most online multiplayer games now have some form of loot box - players can open these boxes for a chance of new cosmetic items in gear. We've seen this type of box in Counter Strike, Overwatch, Rocket League, Call of Duty, Halo, and now it's coming to Rainbow Six: Siege.
Title update 2.1.1 is the new update that's bringing the loot boxes. The loot boxes are called Alpha Packs, and players will have the chance to buy them with either of the two types of currency currently in the game.
This means players can play more games to earn renown to spend on the packs, or they can spend real money to get points to open them with. The alpha packs will feature a chance based loot system similar to other popular multiplayer games. The packs will include loot already available in the game, as well as new items of legendary rarity.
A number of bug fixes were
