Metal Gear Solid 4 25th Anniversary

Konami has recently announced an anniversary edition for Metal Gear Solid 4, celebrating the 25th birthday of the Metal Gear series, dating back to the original Metal Gear game for the MSX PC console which was released in 1987.

The 25th Anniversary edition follows on from the HD collection released last year, where Konami have redefined games solely for the series' loyal fans. However, those who were new to the series after purchasing the HD remastered games on an Xbox 360 console for the first time may be disappointed to hear that unlike the HD collection, the 25th Anniversary Edition Metal Gear Solid 4 game won't make it to Xbox 360 consoles, and will instead stick to the PlayStation platform, much like the previous Metal Gear Solid games.

The 25th Anniversary Edition, which is scheduled for release on November 30th was first rumored to feature on the Xbox 360 after a New Zealand shop, mightyape.co.nz, showed the game as 'currently unavailable' on their website with a suspicious photo-shopped Xbox 360 banner printed onto the new game's box art.

However, Konami quickly denied this as a false rumor in a statement to Eurogamer after they reported on the strange mishap.

"It's a welcome return to the rumor," a Konami representative told Eurogamer. "But there are no plans to release Metal Gear Solid 4 on Xbox 360."

The Metal Gear Solid 4 25th Anniversary Edition will still be available on PS3 for just $20 on November 30th, and should include trophy support and a few extra features.
