YouTube Gaming Signs 3 Streamers to Deals

While the likes of Twitch and Mixer are the big-boys of the spectator based streaming platforms, YouTube TV has lagged behind a bit. The company is looking to rectify this with the signing of three big-name streamers to exclusive content deals.

Lannan “LazarBeam” Eacott, Elliott “Muselk” Watkins and Rachell “Valkyrae” Hofstetter were each signed to the deals, which will see them creating content through the YouTube Gaming and YouTube brands. The three gamers have more than 21 million subscribers between them, while also holding large audiences on other platforms.

 

The agreement will help the company’s gaming brand, which has been lagging behind Amazon’s Twitch and Microsoft’s Mixer. Google owns YouTube, and they’re looking to use the platform to help promote their newly-launched Google Stadia game service, which streams games over the internet. The company is promising a feature that lets viewers click a game in real-time, which will then launch Stadia where a player can participate within seconds.

 

There have been massive streamer related deals in the past, with Microsoft luring Tyler “Ninja” Blevins to their Mixer platform last year. Terms of that deal weren’t disclosed, but it’s speculated that millions of dollars were fronted to get him to jump ship.
