The wait has been ridiculously long, but it's finally here, Microsoft have announced that they will be revealing the next generation Xbox this year via a press release and similarly looking emails sent to Xbox Live subscribers.
The new Xbox, Xbox 720, Xbox Next, or whatever Microsoft decide to call it will be revealed on 21st May, which is a date that Microsoft has started sending out press invites to.
The event will take place at Microsoft's Xbox campus near Seattle just a month before E3 makes the headlines.
Microsoft have obviously planned this release to help build up hype for E3, where they have said that "At E3 we'll continue the conversation and showcase our full line-up of blockbuster games," in their press release.
Although Sony didn't reveal what the PlayStation 4 actually looked like at their press event, they did announce it to the world, and excitement has been rippling through the PlayStation community. However, if the Xbox want to get

It seems like everyone has been waiting forever to witness the release of the next-gen consoles. Out of the three giants Nintendo has already revealed its next-gen console (the Wii U) which is expected to hit stores somewhere near fall of this year. Microsoft and Sony on the other hand are still very quiet. It's like an old school standoff with Sony and Microsoft keeping a very close eye one other. I bet they are also keeping a watch on Nintendo but I highly doubt either company really sees Nintendo as a threat. We all know why. Nintendo makes amazing 1st party titles but without proper 3rd party titles it is going to be really hard for Nintendo to catch-up to the other two.
I guess Nintendo knows this fact well and based on this they decided to launch Wii U ahead of the competition. But according to new rumors Nintendo might not have the luxury of a huge gap anymore. A few GameStop employees have recently come forth to reveal that that either one or

Next Generation Of Consoles Are Close
You guys should have already read about the Brian Hall, General Manager of Windows Live, referring to the "new Xbox" during his interview with The Verge. Soon after that though Microsoft came in and said that his statement was taken out of context and that Hall was actually referring to the Xbox 360 which is about to get an update that would bring a host of new consumer experiences like Xbox Music, Videos, SmartGlass etc.But in a surprising turn of events the President of EA Labels, Frank Gibeau, mentioned during his keynote address at the opening ceremony of Gamescom that he has actually SEEN both

New Xbox Rumor
Well it's about time isn't it? For Microsoft to reveal SOMETHING about the next gen Xbox right?
It seems that one of their employees thought we deserved to know more and thanks to him we get to hear the very first actual reference towards the new Xbox. In an interview with The Verge, Brian Hall (General Manager of Windows Live) literally mentioned that the "new Xbox" when listing the wide range of Microsoft products that could be incorporated with Windows 8.
This is what Hall said during his interview, "We've had Hotmail and operated Hotmail for about 16 years. We obviously have Exchange, and Outlook, that people use at work. We just decided

Xbox 720 Dev Kits Leaked
There seems to be no end in sight for rumors surrounding the next-gen Xbox. Just a few days back a person calling himself DaE leaked several pictures of the "supposed" development kit for the next-gen Xbox. The pictures first appeared on a forum for game developers where DaE attempted to sell the alleged development kit for $10,000. As expected no one actually paid any heed to this and labeled the whole event as another rumor and just another trying to create another hoax.
In an interesting turn of events Digital Foundry, a gaming tech site, has confirmed that these pictures are actually real. Digital Foundry has met with several developers

Hello Amanda,No sweat and by the way I really appreciate knowing that as customers we are the number one priority. As I mentioned before in a phone conversation this will be my 2nd modded controller, the 1st one I obtained from a competitor (a bad experience overall... bad customer service, 1st shipment was defective so I had to send it back, 2nd shipment so far has shown poor quality- active reload works half of the time etc.) Because of all these problems I decided to find a different option, which happens to be you guys... so in essence waiting a couple of more days because I will be getting something of really good quality is definitely not a problem. Once again thanks for the info, God bless!
Sincerely,
Jose M. C

The Next Microsoft Console's Code Name is Revealed to the Gaming Public
So places like Kotaku have heard from a lot of sources (which can be found in this article) that are close to the working on the next Microsoft gaming console. They found out that the code-name for Microsoft's next console is Durango. Sounds like a familiar animated title doesn't it?
Though it should be noted that this is a code-name, not the official name. Just like the code-names for the Dreamcast (Katana), the Gamecube (Dolphin), and the Wii (Revolution), it's not the name that will be printed on the console or the box it will be
