EVO 2017 has now slowly shifted to a halt, and the winners for both Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Super Bros. Melee have now been revealed.
If you don't want spoilers, you can check out recaps on the EVO 2017 Twitch channel before reading our EVO 2017 finals overview below.
We'll first start with the least surprising turnout of the event. In the Super Bros. Melee tournament at EVO 2017, Armada and Mang0 ended up facing up against each other in the grand finale.
Armada managed to pull out an almost clean 3-1 victory over Mang0 to take the grand final win after coming from the winner's bracket. This is now the third year in a row that Armada has made it to the EVO 2017 grand finals.
In 2016, Armada came second after losing in the grand finals. Armada also took the 2015 EVO Smash Bros. Melee win.
The results for the EVO 2017 Smash Bros. for Wii U tournament were a little more interesting.
As expected, ZeRo made his way to the grand finals after staying

BeyondTheSummit has released the key dates and details for the upcoming Smash Summit 4.
It has now been confirmed that the event will take place from March 2 and will end on March 5. To begin with, the prize pool is sitting at $15,000, but it will grow depending on how many fans attend the events.
Even with a $15,000 base prize pool, this will be an important event to take the win, and it could perhaps be the event that could be open to absolutely anybody.
Whilst both Hungrybox and Armada are still performing incredibly, Hungrybox's recent broken finger has put some doubt on his upcoming performance. Armada is still looking like a strong contender, but his most recent Smash Summit win was at Smash Summit 3 doubles, at which point he had help from the formidable Mew2King. Mang0 has also been in great form this year, even if he hasn't managed to hit as many first place wins as Hungrybox and Armada.
In total, there will be sixteen players to attend the Smash Summit

UGC Smash Open has now ended and after an unsurprising win from ZeRo in the Smash 4 camp, Armada has now taken another victory in Smash Melee.
The event took place during the start of the month and while there were a few exciting matchups in the tournament, nobody was surprised to see Armada take the win.
However, something that was surprising was the incredible performance by Mew2King which saw him hastily make his way to the grand finals only after losing a single match earlier against n0ne. After his first defeat, Mew2king ripped through Duck, Ice, SFAT, Leffen and even favorites to place in the grand finals; Mang0 and Hungrybox.
In the grand finals, Mew2King even managed to defeat Armada with an impressive 3-1 scoreline. However, because Mew2King dropped to the loser's bracket, he still had another 3 wins needed to take the grand final. This then saw Armada turn the tables completely and beat Mew2King in true comeback fashion with a 3-1 score for himself.

Unsurprisingly, Armada and Hungrybox ended up finding themselves in a match up for the grand finale of Smash Melee Dreamhack Winter.
However, only one player could come out on top. Both Hungrybox and Armada were projected to do well in the event, but nobody expected Armada to be on such a hot streak. Earlier on in the tournament, Armada ripped through Leffen and Trifasia with quick 3-0 victories.
Hungrybox, on the other hand, managed to fight his way through Professor Pro and Mang0 in his first two matches. He did well, but he wasn't quite as much of a convincing winner as Armada was at this point.
After two straight wins, both Hungrybox and Armada found themselves in the winner's final. In this event, Armada's 3-0 victory streak was brought to an end by Hungrybox, but only just. Armada still managed to take a 3-1 victory in the winner's final, bringing him to the grand final with just a scratch.
Hungrybox took a pretty heavy knock to his confidence after his

If you've followed the Smash Brothers scene then you'll know that Mang0 has been a big player for a long time. It's no surprise that he has managed to capture a win in SSBM at Big House 6 this year.
Mang0, still under the Cloud 9 organization, hasn't had the best of results this first half, but it looks as if his performance at the older part of 2016 is seeing more success for him. The Big House 6 event saw some of the greatest Melee players make it participate. As a result, there were a lot of close matchups that Mang0 narrowly won.
Mang0 first when undefeated against Nintendude, The Moon, Ice and then put himself to the test against Armada and took the win 3-2 in the winner's semifinals. At this point, Armada dropped down to the loser's bracket.
Following Armada's story after his drop to the losers, Armada managed to take a win against the infamous Hungrybox and Mew2King to take his win in the loser's finals. Mang0 on the other hand hastily won the winner's finals

Cloud 9 Mang0 has taken the Melee victory at the Super Smash Con. His victory looked very promising from the start of the grand final event, where he managed to make none other than Hungrybox bow down to him.
This wasn't the first time Hungrybox lost to Mang0 in the 2016 Super Smash Con. In fact, Hungrybox lost 3-1 to Mang0 in the Winner's Finals. By losing in the Winner's bracket, Hungrybox then fell down into the loser's finals to go up against Mew2King.
Hungrybox then took the win against Mew2King without a single ounce of respect in a quick 3-0 victory. At this point, we were expecting an exciting fight in the grand final with a newly refreshed Hungrybox. Surely Mang0 couldn't beat out Hungrybox again within such quick succession?
As it turns out, Mang0 managed to pull an even sweeter victory in the finals. In fact, Mang0 and Hungrybox's last match of the day saw Mang0 hit a 3-0 scoreline against Hungrybox. Hungrybox almost took one match, but Mang0 managed to pull

It's been a long, wild ride for Hungrybox but at EVO 2016 he finally managed to take a victory after defeating Armada in the grand finals for Super Smash Bros. Melee. Hungrybox has managed to come out with top three victories in previous years at EVO but this time he made it to the top. Armada is arguably the best out there in the world of SSBM and his history with Peach and Fox has put him ranked at the very top for a long time.
However, after Hungrybox's latest win against Armada, his win at Dreamhack Winter and his second place performance in Dreamhack Austin, it's safe to say that he is hot on the tail of Armada. Hungrybox mains Jigglypuff and he managed to use his expertise to take down Armada, who was playing Fox during the grand finals.
Mang0, who managed to take the win at Dreamhack Austin, didn't do as well this month at EVO 2016, but he still managed to get a top five ranking, along with Plup, S2J and Mew2King. Westballz and PewPewU tied for seventh spot, whilst
