WNBA player Candace Parker made history this week by being selected by 2K Sports as the first female cover athlete for the NBA 2K series of games.
Parker will be featured on the Gamestop-exclusive version of NBA 2K22 when it releases on September 10th. The custom cover is meant to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the WNBA, the first women’s professional basketball league to launch in the United States.
In a tweet, Parker commented on her achievement, writing: "Extremely proud and humbled to be the first female cover athlete in the history of @NBA2K. I’m honored to work with a company that’s investing in women and betting on us to succeed. I’m hoping there will be many more badass females to follow.”
There will be multiple covers of the game releases, with Luka Doncic, Dirk Nowitzki, Kevin Durant, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Rui Hachimura all getting covers as well.

NBA fans rejoice, Take-Two and The NBA have just announced an eLeague for their NBA video games. The esports league will focus on the NBA 2K game series and will open up the opportunity for players to compete at a competitive level for monetary prizes.
"We believe we have a unique opportunity to develop something truly special for our fans and the young and growing eSports community. We look forward to combining our best-in-class NBA sports team operators with Take-Two's competitive gaming expertise to create a brand new league experience."
Don't worry, the real NBA league will still go ahead unaffected, but this branching off by NBA and the subsequent partnering with Take-Two will open up new opportunities, specifically for those that play NBA 2K competitively.
The league will start in 2018. 30 teams will take part in the league and each NBA franchise has been set the task to scout out players for their teams. Each team will have 5 players in total. Interestingly,

For those that don't know, the big Shaq from NBA fame has started to invest in a North American eSports team named NRG. Shaq recently shared some of his feelings for eSports and shared why he has such a passion for it.
The biggest reason Shaq has a soft spot for eSports can be summed up in one simple word. "Teamwork." It's clear that this is something that Shaq knows well, "Five guys working together, practicing together, trusting your brother. That's what makes a winner. It's a grind. It takes big time dedication to be the best and build a winner."
It's not just the teamwork side of things that both eSports and NBA share, though.
"The fans did it for me," Shaq mentioned. "The fan base is huge and so passionate about their favorite games, teams and players. We have seen this movie before with the NBA and other traditional sports leagues. Sponsors and distribution always follow."
"I got to witness first-hand at CES this year how exciting the CS:GO world had become

Rick Fox has been a well known personality in the sports world for a long time but recently he has been venturing into the eSports world too. Rick Fox is the owner of the Echo Fox eSports organisation, which in recent news has acquired Ryan "Freakazoid" Abadir for their professional Counter Strike: Global Offensive team.
Soon Rick Fox will be creating an unscripted documentary on eSports. Echo Fox "Will be teaming with Propagate and INE Entertainment to develop and produce a non-scripted series about the growing eSports phenomenon. Three-time NBA champion Los Angeles Laker Rick Fox and veteran TV producer Mark Koops will executive produce."
Rick Fox's love for eSports sprouted out of a bonding activity with his son. Rick mentioned that his interest in eSports started "several years ago as a bonding activity with my son, I would have never dreamed that it would have taken off the way it has. The level of engagement between fans and athletes in the eSports community is far more

I've always thought that Rocket League looked like an absolutely solid title but after a bit more of a look at the latest update, it turns out that the game does actually have room to get even better. Instead of just adding new cosmetic items or a new arena, the next Rocket League patch will add new gameplay content that could add hundreds of hours of new fun and completely change the direction of future eSports events.
The biggest new addition is the new game mode named Hoops. As the name suggests, Hoops is a basketball inspired mode. The new game mode will feature a 2 v 2 setup on a new arena called Dunk House. To get players in the spirit, NBA flags will be added as cosmetic items in the new update too. The new flags can be purchased, although the NBA logo will be given out for free.
To begin with the Hoops mode will be limited to unranked but a ranked playlist could be possible in the future. So far Psyonix is yet to confirm the future of Hoops, we'll have to see how well

Games - NBA Jam sets Politicians against each other
Taking a page from the old NBA Jam games, there will be political figures in NBA Jam. EA's latest game in the franchise will feature the political figures of today including Sarah Palin, George W. Bush, John McCain, and President Obama.
Thankfully, both sides of the aisle will be represented and will have actual teams based on their parties of both Republican and Democrat and will have their own uniforms and home courts. So far it's been confirmed to be included on the Wii at the moment but they're likely to be on the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions in an upcoming update.
Now it's only a matter of time before

Games - Air Jordan to return in digital form!
Control is the name of the game. Being able to fake left and go right. For all the NBA fans, NBA 2k11 is bringing control right to your hands. Players will be able to control their favorites like Kobe Bryant, Lebron James and Dwayne Wade like they never have before. If you want to side step before you crossover, spin-move then go behind the back or step back for a pull up jump shot, YOU CAN! NBA fans should be excited for this game; I mean Michael Jordan is on the cover this year. When was the last time we saw Jordan attached to a video game? Most sports games are very repetitive and rarely have any new and better features then the previous year, but with NBA 2k11 that will change. NBA 2k11 will be released October 5th.

Lebron's choice to be part of the Heat, effects gaming as well
Just as every NBA fan sat quietly waiting to hear LeBron James' decision on what team he was choosing to sign with for the upcoming season, the video game world was waiting right alongside. The decision to join the Miami Heat will have a great impact on basketball video games. Chris Snyder, 2K Sports director of marketing, predicts that the Heat will be the No. 1 team for ranked games next year. LeBron James is joining Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade making the Heat a force to be reckoned with. NBA 2K 10's Living Rosters will not be getting another update, but the unit will be playable in multiplayer
